Lost for words

Well, that was unexpected.

On the one hand, it was away and they were second in the league, having beaten us at home. On the other, we had a good team out, settled pairs and an air of confidence. What happened?

I didn’t stay for the match as I had to go and scout for other players to bring in during the transfer window….. The feedback from the team has been a bit short so far. No one seems to want to talk to me. but I did hear that the good news is that each pair managed at least one W. The bad news is that the opposition got to 4 before we had 1. I understand that there were plenty of deuces and a number of tie breaks. Close and enjoyable games all evening. The worst news is that they won more of them than us and ran out winners 5-4. Why?

So, seven played. Five lost, two won, three to go. Starting with the league’s whipping boys next Tuesday 12^th July. At “fortress” Essex. 7.00 start. Anyone who does not want to be considered for selection please let me know by Sunday evening. Three more Ws and we have a 50% win rate. One more loss and you’re all up for free transfers.

The time for talking has passed. Now is the time for action, gentlemen.
